LIFELONG LEARNING          IN A DIGITAL WORLD

Naturally Curious

Learning never ends... With today's technologies, we have the power at our fingertips to access knowledge from experts in any field. A new dawn for educational possibilities. However, with unfettered benefits comes some dangers. Cyberbullying is rife. Trolls lurk behind screens and can attack at any time. Paedophiles use social gaming sites to groom children. It is up to parents, teachers and caregivers to provide the scaffolding needed to navigate potentially treacherous waters. The divide between the digitally fluent and those who don't have easy online access can be seen socioeconomically as well as across generations. The internet has the potential to be the great leveller for education outcomes, provided charitable groups keep working on projects such as One Laptop Per Child. Digital connection capabilities have recently been discussed as a modern Human Right by the UN.
